The Point Mission Bay - Fast Track Consent Granted

Greenwood Roche’s Planning and Environment team, led by Partner Francelle Lupis, has obtained fast track consent on behalf of Applicants’ Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Whai Rawa Limited and Generus Living Group Limited for The Point Mission Bay - a landmark retirement living development located adjacent Takaparawhau.
The Point Mission Bay comprises five interconnected buildings ranging from five to eight storeys, delivering 256 independent living units and refurbishing an existing building to provide 94 care suites. The development also includes shared amenity spaces for residents and visitors, as well as new pedestrian accessways through the site. It has been carefully designed to respond to the cultural narrative gifted by tangata whenua, creating an exceptional living environment for future residents. The Minister for Infrastructure has recognised that the development “will expand housing and care options for older New Zealanders and support more efficient use of urban land”.
Greenwood Roche led the expert team through the Fast track Approvals Act 2024 process, securing consent within 43 working days from the receipt of comments on the application - one of the fastest outcomes under the regime to date.
