Greenwood Roche advises on landmark fast track consent for Lodestone’s Haldon Solar Farm

Greenwood Roche’s Planning and Environment team, led by Partner, Francelle Lupis, assisted Lodestone Energy in obtaining fast track consent for the Haldon Solar Farm – the first solar farm to be granted approval under the Fast-track Approvals Act 2024.

Haldon Solar Farm will make a significant contribution to New Zealand's renewable energy supply, generating approximately 370 GWh of electricity each year, enough to meet the needs of around 45,000 households.  Located near the Benmore HVDC connection, Haldon Solar Farm is well positioned to supply renewable electricity into both the South and North Island electricity networks.  By providing renewable generation during daylight hours, the solar farm will also work alongside New Zealand's hydroelectric system, reducing pressure on hydro storage and helping maintain reserves during dry years.

Greenwood Roche assisted Lodestone Energy throughout the substantive application process, helping to navigate the fast-track regime and working closely with the project team to secure approval.
