Summer Clerk and Graduate Recruitment 2026/2027 - applications now open

We are recruiting for a limited number of Summer Clerk and Graduate positions for 2026/2027.  Applications close at 12pm on 24 March 2026.

We view the Summer Clerk experience as an opportunity for talented students to do real work, meet real clients and contribute to real projects. It’s not about being a “summer clerk” – there is no summer clerk challenge, retreat or skit – but you will be part of the team and experience what it is really like to work at our firm.  Our approach to recruitment has always been to offer positions to people whom we hope will join us permanently at the end of their studies, not just fill a seat for the summer.

While we are focused on recruiting Summer Clerks this year, we are also looking for a few additional 2027 Graduates in our Auckland office only.

• Covering letter – we are interested in hearing about you … but also keen to know why you want to join us.  Project law includes property, construction and planning/resource management, so tell us if and why those interest you.  And no AI please!  We know ChatGPT can write a cover letter, but we want to know if you can.
• CV.
• Academic Transcript.
• Writing sample (a recent University assignment that you are proud of would be ideal).
• Location preference in our Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch office locations.  Please do note state "no preference" - it's important to us to hire the right people in the location that works best for them.
• Confirm your interview location availability – we interview in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
• Indicate if you are applying for a Summer Clerk (summer of 2026/2027) or Auckland Graduate (commencing full-time work in 2027) position.

Interviews will be held in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch during April/May 2026.

We will contact you in late March to confirm whether you are invited to interview and we intend to make our offers to successful candidates in May 2026.
